PK是什么意思 - What does PK mean?

1、penalty kick的缩写: 指足球比赛中的点球大战,是足球比赛中最惊心动魄、一球决定胜负的时刻。其他体育运动也有类似的PK说法:
  • Penalty kill, in ice hockey, 冰球
  • Placekicker, in American football, 橄榄球
  • Pickoff, in baseball, 棒球

2、 player killing的缩写: 一种打斗方式,引申为“单挑”,来源于网络游戏中玩家之间的对打,是电脑游戏中的专有名词, 即两个玩家决斗,单挑决出谁是胜者。PK 这个词从 MUD 时代就广为流传。

  • Player killer, a person who kills other players in MMORPGs and MUDs

英语词汇中的哑音字母及拼写

世界上所有活的语言都处在不断地发展变化之中。几个世纪以来,英语的语音发生了巨大的变化,一些原 来在古英语中和古英语时期发音的字母(如字母b在climb,thumb等词后面原有发音的)现在已变得不再发音, 但英语的拼写却基本保持原来的样子,这给英语单词的拼写带来了一定的困难。高年级学生的英文作文中时常 出现单词误拼和字母漏拼现象,大部分都是由于哑音字母造成的。本文把英语单词中常见的不发音的辅单字母 进行归类整理,希望对英语学习者和英语爱好者单词的拼写能有一定的帮助。
●1哑音字母b:字母b在m之后或t之前且mb, bt处于单词的末尾时(注意:member中的b发音,因为mb不在 词尾),b往往不发音。如:
(1)bomb炸弹;climb爬;comb梳子;crumb面包屑;dumb 哑;lamb羊羔;limb手足;mumb麻木的;thum b拇指;tomb坟墓。
(2)debt债务;doubt怀疑。
这两个词中字母b是中世纪时为了与拉丁语对应强加给英语的, 在英语的发音中b从来就没有出现过。
